Carbon Avoidance
Alternative Energies
The project aims at generating electricity from renewable energy sources to replace fossil power sources in the Indian grid reducing around 600k of CO₂ emissions per year. The project also uses 5€ per carbon credit to finance renewable energy plants in Germany to reduce local CO₂ emissions.
The project activity aims to generate electricity from renewable energy sources (solar energy) and sell the generated electricity to the Indian grid. The generated electricity is fed into the Indian grid and replaces electricity generated by conventional fossil fuel power sources. Thus, 643,860 MWh/year of electricity from solar power is added to the Indian electricity mix, saving an estimated amount 603,168 tCO₂e per year.
In addition, SWM uses 5€ of the investment to finance the new construction, maintenance and/or operation of renewable energy plants in Germany. In this way, a contribution is made to CO₂ reduction in Germany, to the national energy turnaround and to achieving Germany's climate targets.
