Carbon Removal
Afforestation, Reforestation and Nature Preservation
Regenerative agriculture practices enable farmers to actively remove CO₂ from the atmosphere, sequestering it as carbon in the soil. The benefits extend beyond carbon capture; the soil becomes more fertile and better equipped to withstand extreme weather events, while also fostering a thriving, diverse ecosystem.
Bring climate protection down to earth and invest in regenerative agriculture to build the foundation for a sustainable future.
Half of the world’s habitable land is used for agriculture. Within its soils lies a solution to the climate crisis. Through regenerative practices and technology, the soil’s potential as a carbon sink - a scalable, nature-based solution - can be restored. Klim applies regenerative agriculture methods, such as improved crop rotations and organic fertilisation, as well as the avoidance of natural soil organic carbon depletion compared to a business-as-usual scenario to increase soil carbon sequestration.
Protect and support biodiversity with carbon credits that go beyond CO₂.
Regenerative agriculture projects go beyond removing carbon by fostering a thriving, diverse ecosystem. With the integration of regenerative methods like cover crops and flowering strips, farmers enrich biodiversity, both above and beneath the soil. With Klim, you support farmers that want to protect and enhance life on their farms, and contribute to the sustainable transformation of agriculture.
Guaranteed transparency and traceability of carbon credits through Klim’s digital platform and MRV technology.
Klim's digital platform and proprietary MRV methodology are specifically designed for facilitating the farmer-friendly transition to regenerative agriculture, ensuring maximum transparency and traceability of carbon credits. The credits undergo a thorough two-step verification process, including third-party verification by TÜV Rheinland in accordance with DIN ISO 14064.2. This involves document verification, satellite monitoring, and, when needed, on-site visits. Leveraging data effectively allows Klim to understand exactly how much carbon is stored by their 3,000+ Klim farmers in Germany through regenerative methods.
The project mitigates permanence risks in nature-based solutions by adhering to international standards and implementing additional measures. They have established a farmer vesting scheme, withholding 25% of payments to ensure farmers’ ongoing engagement, and set aside 25% of credits as a permanence buffer against potential reversals, calculated based on the Verra AFOLU risk tool. Additionally, Klim focuses on knowledge sharing to reinforce farmers' commitment to regenerative practices, emphasising the long-term benefits of regenerative agriculture for the productivity of their farms.
